2. Vulpecula(The Little Fox)

The Little Little Fox

Anxiety

The Milky Way has a part where it splits into two streams. Between these branches, there is a dark region, and Vulpecula is located just crossing this darkness, found immediately south of Cygnus.

Sisask's image of Vulpecula is "anxiety". According to the accompanying story, "The little fox is anxiously crossing a river with cracks in the ice...". The music also reflects this uneasy movement, with leaping motifs that resemble startled jumps and continuous footprints on the snow.

In the region of Vulpecula, there is M27, known as the Dumbbell Nebula due to its dumbbell-like shape as shown in the image above. It has also been described as a giant cushion floating in the sky, a magic carpet, or in English, the Apple Core Nebula. It's a somewhat eerie thought, but to me, the image looks like a heart.

The constellation Vulpecula itself consists of faint stars. In Sisask's constellation map (reproduced above from the first edition), there are no lines connecting the stars, making them look like footprints in the snow. It seems quite difficult to confirm the presence of the little fox in the vast snowy field.

In his music, occasional ff and fff markings and strong accents appear. Perhaps these represent the stark contrast between the faint stars and M27. I feel a sense of uncertainty about what might appear in this constellation's region.
